On 12th August 2026, Manipur Police felicitated three distinguished sportspersons from Manipur who brought laurels to the State and the Nation by winning medals at the recently concluded
Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.

The athletes felicitated were:

1. Shri Jadumani Singh Mandengbam – Silver Medal, Boxing (Men’s 55 Kg)
2. Shri Chanambam Rishikanta Singh – Silver Medal, Weightlifting (Men’s 60 Kg)
3. Smt. Bindyarani Devi Sorokhaibam – Bronze Medal, Weightlifting (Women’s 58 Kg)

The programme was held at Police Headquarters, Mantripukhri, where the athletes were accorded a warm reception. Bouquets and lengyans were presented to the medal winners, followed by an interaction during which they shared their inspiring journeys, challenges, and experiences at the Commonwealth Games. Their achievements have brought immense pride to Manipur and have once again highlighted the State’s rich sporting legacy.

Addressing the gathering, Shri Mukesh Singh, IPS, DGP Manipur, congratulated the athletes on their outstanding accomplishments and commended their dedication, perseverance, and commitment to excellence. He stated that their success serves as a source of inspiration for the youth of Manipur and the personnel of Manipur Police alike.

As a mark of appreciation and recognition, the DGP presented tokens of honour to the athletes. The programme concluded with light refreshments and informal interaction. Manipur Police extends its heartfelt congratulations to the medal winners and wishes them continued success in their future sporting endeavours.
