On 19/09/2026, personnel of Moirang Police Station rescued Md. Wasim Akram, a West Bengal resident who escaped from his abductors at Naranseina by pulling the handbrake of the transport vehicle (Bolero RC No AS02A B9720) and fled to security personnel for help. He was abducted upon his arrival at Imphal airport.

The driver, Makakmayum Imtiyazur Rahaman (24) S/o MK Habibur Rahaman of Wangoi Mamang Leikai, was immediately arrested.

Investigation continues to track and arrest the remaining suspects.
