On 1st of August, 2026, Shri Mukesh Singh, IPS, DGP, Manipur accompanied by ADGP(L&O/AP/INT), visited the historic and oldest 134yrs old battalion of Manipur, the 1st Bn. Manipur Rifles, Imphal.

​The DGP was briefed about the initiation of Manipur Police with the raising of the 1st Manipur Rifles in 1892 and its legacy till date. The Manipur police not only being a law enforcing agency but also a unique part of Manipur’s History, growth and reformations. The DGP inspected the British era Heritage Unit’s Quarter Guard, the Manipur Police Officers Club, the Banquet Hall, MT, the Parade Ground, Unit Church, Unit Temple, Canteen and the DGP Petrol Pump. The DGP also interacted with officials of the Battalion and various issues were discussed relating to revamping of the Battalion, strict protocols of deployments, inspections and compliance there of. Important feedbacks and ideas were given to ensure further development and implementation of projects suited to mordern day needs.
The day ended with instructions to co ordinate and proper channel reporting to higher ups and DGP at all times. The Battalion was enriched with the insightful visit.
